Custom Stone Farmhouse with Black Badge Steel Windows & Doors
The moment I laid eyes on the 19th-century stone from Horizon, I knew it was the perfect fit for my dream home. When an 80-acre plot of land became available in my town, I was thrilled. Everything seemed to be falling into place, and I had a clear vision of what I wanted. From the exterior's over-grout method to achieve a rustic look, to the Mason Slate roof from Certainteed and copper gutters, I was determined to bring my vision to life.
Working with Noa Santos from Nine Noah, we carefully selected a range of earthy materials, including limestone, natural oak, and travertine, to create a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the house. We even used line wash paint from jhwallpaints.com for an elegant touch. However, one crucial detail eluded me: the perfect steel windows and doors.
I spent a year researching options, but no major brand offered what I was looking for. I kept returning to the homes that inspired me, trying to pinpoint what made their windows and doors so unique. Was it the slim lines? The all-glass design? Whatever it was, I couldn't find it—not even from top brands like Marvin, Pella, and Anderson. Their trim and molding around the windows and doors disrupted the aesthetic I was striving for.
It wasn’t until I realized that steel windows and doors were key to achieving the look I wanted that I began searching for a solution. I discovered that the original steel windows and doors from the 1800s were crafted with a level of detail and craftsmanship difficult to replicate. But where could I find them?
My search led me to several websites, including HopWindows from Boston, but the prices were staggering. I received quotes of nearly $1 million for steel windows and doors—more than the cost of building the entire house! It seemed this one detail could make or break the project.
As someone passionate about interior design and architecture, I was determined to find a solution. My husband, a successful entrepreneur, and I decided to take matters into our own hands, and thus, Black Badge was born.
By teaming up with a factory boasting nearly 30 years of experience, we created steel windows and doors that exceeded my wildest dreams. Our frames are made from high-quality Swiss steel, available in hollow, solid, or thermally broken options to suit any climate. Paired with tempered glass and top-of-the-line German-made hardware, our steel windows and doors are truly unparalleled.
I’m incredibly proud of our Black Badge steel windows and doors; they've transformed my farmhouse into a stunning masterpiece. If you’ve been searching for the perfect combination of style and functionality, I'm excited to say you’ve found it—without the hefty price tag. Our products are available at a fraction of the cost of other manufacturers, making your dream home a reality.
We can offer such competitive pricing because our fabrication process takes place overseas. While metal can be expensive, importing it allows us to pass those savings on to you—similar to many imported cars and steel beams. Rest assured, our steel windows and doors are designed and manufactured with the highest quality materials on the market. They meet and exceed all NFRC standards and energy codes, from Title 24 in California to the cold climate in New England.
What sets Black Badge apart is our unique blend of old-world charm and modern functionality. Our steel windows and doors feature sleek, slim black frames, beautiful hardware, and old glass—a combination that’s hard to find elsewhere. As a living example of what’s possible with steel windows and doors, I’m excited to collaborate with you on your project and bring your vision to life!
