ENERGY DATA
Black Badge Doors & Windows are manufactured to the highest standards with energy efficiency in mind. Contrary to popular belief, metal steel & aluminum windows and doors are very energy efficient. Paired with our thermally broken frames available in both steel and our aluminum line, all Black Badge Doors & windows are double-pane glass filled with Argon gas and up to triple glazing. Here are some specs we're able to achieve, but each product will vary - CONTACT US for more information.
The U-factor number is the rate at which heat is transmitted. This takes into account the entire construction of the steel or aluminum metal window or door and rates it accordingly. A good U-factor is between 0.20 and 1.20. As you can see, Black Badge can offer one of the most energy efficient door or window on the market.
The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is a very important measurement of solar radiation that is transmitted through the door or window. With ratings from 0 - 1, the lower the number, the less solar radiation to pass through. Again, Black Badge Doors boasts one of the lowest SHGC ratings given out.
Lastly, this final rating of visible transmittance refers literally to the amount of light that is transmitted through the door or window. You want enough sunlight (given that most of our doors and windows are all-glass anyways) but not too much where the sun just burns everything it lands on. Our products have the dream of any with the perfect transmittance!
